SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, responsibility to program, setup, and operate precision machining operation.
ESSENTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Setting up CNC machining center, program and optimize CNC programs, clamping of girders and truck frames, independent work of work orders and small series, independent quality assurance according to technical targets and schedules, shift work, overtime.
Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated. Confers with engineers, production personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with operating CNC machines with SINUMERIK control, professional competence for machining complex designs, rail vehicle manufacturing (optional), ability to work in a team, good communication skills.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Three years of machining and/or fabrication experience. Requires working knowledge of welding procedures. Requires working knowledge CNC programming. Professional training as machining technician, machine operator, lathe operator Reading, writing and math skills equivalent to those obtained from completion of high school or commensurate experience.
